It's incredible how much waste modern society creates when it comes to something as disposable as packaging, so it's refreshing to see what the designer behind the Plamp has come up with. This simple cardboard pendant lamp opens to reveal a subtle elegance that one would not regularly expect from a paper-based product.

If you were to order one of these hanging lights, you would receive a hexagonal prism in the mail, most likely postmarked with your name, address and a row of stamps. Picture now, removing the decorative corrugated card cap to reveal a beautiful flower-like lighting fixture with six petals -- the Plamp acts as both an illuminator and its own packaging. To enhance the aesthetic beyond air mail markings, the Plamp can also be made with intricately patterned cutout designs, only revealed when the item's been unfolded.
