The Farolito Lamp Captures Paper Lantern Warmth Through 3d Printing

— July 31, 2025 — Art & Design
The Farolito lamp is a 3D‑printed light fixture inspired by the humble paper or brown lunch bag lanterns of New Mexico, translated into durable bioplastic with geometric flair. Its designers at Wooj Design leverage additive manufacturing to mimic folds, creases, and soft translucency in a solid form that diffuses warm, familiar light. The concept honors traditional paper lantern aesthetics while creating a more resilient and modern interpretation.

Made in Brooklyn from recycled PLA and translucent materials, the lamp measures approximately 8.75″ tall by 4.75″ wide, and includes an E12 bulb for gentle, 2700K illumination. Each piece shows subtle layer lines and texture—evidence of the 3D‑printing process, which adds charm and uniqueness. Wooj emphasizes sustainability and made‑to‑order craftsmanship that blends familiar folkloric form with fresh, tactile design. It's a gentle fusion of ritual nostalgia and contemporary production.
