As patios become an increasing focus for entertaining (particularly on the West Coast), these pivot doors are a modern way of extending your home design outdoors. Designed by the Los Angeles-based firm Chu + Gooding Architects, these pivot doors replace standard sliding doors. Well executed door design is pivotal in how your outdoor living space looks and functions.
The English House Extension uses pivot doors to re-imagine this 1950s Beverly Hills home. The supersized pivot doors allow more flow between an indoor dining space and the outdoor pool patio area without a change or interruption in flooring for the historic 7000 square foot residence. When opened the large, framed glass panels also offer an interesting visual effect when viewed from the side.
