Pho-Topped Cocktails

This Unique Cocktail Combines North Carolina Moonshine and Laotian Pho

Bida Manda, a Laotian restaurant and bar located in the city of Raleigh, North Carolina, is offering a unique cocktail that marries the seemingly unrelated worlds of North Carolina moonshine and soothing Southeast Asian pho.

The dish's preparation is as unique as its eventual flavor. A small ceramic bowl is filled with hot water just to warm it up, at which point the water is discarded. 2 ounces of Broadslab moonshine are then added, in addition to half an ounce of zesty lime juice and a couple of pods of star anise. The kicker is the pho broth which is poured on top.

The end result is a marvelously unique cocktail that features a salty and boozy taste -- courtesy the moonshine and lime juice -- and a wonderfully silky and soothing texture thanks to the slowly simmered pho broth.
