The Padel Pavilion stands on eight stilts to create a mid-air suspension visual effect. Architecture firm Saboia+Ruiz Arquitectos built the new building as part of a local club facility in Curitiba, Brazil. The latest addition to the sports compound is characterized by its sizeable box-shaped design, which lights up at night, serving as a neighborhood lamp.
The boxed building is clad in translucent polycarbonate industrial shutters to let sunlight in and naturally ventilate the area. On the inside, the site houses four tennis courts measuring 10 x 20 meters each. Each court is structured with tempered glass panels to create a sense of openness throughout the facility. Tennis players view the green walls that surround the pavilion from the courts, creating an indoor-outdoor feel.
