New Media Stat Infographics

This Infographic Charts the Changes in News Media Online

This infographic from the University of Florida Online takes a look at news media online and how it is being changed by social media.

The 'Evolution of News Media and Social Media' graphic shows that the top three sources people currently get their news from include online news sites, newspapers and social media, respectively.

The graphic also goes back as far as the 1960s to examine significant news events throughout history. One of the last milestones includes Facebook reaching one billion users in 2012, which is significant because the social networking site recently introduced trending topics and news stories into its News Feed. The infographic concludes by stating that the future of news will see consumers as curators and creators, introducing a new wave of "citizen journalism."
