Social Media Political-Content Limitations

Meta is Reducing Political Content Recommendations

Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri announced that users will no longer be recommended certain content with its new political content limitations. Users will still be able to view these contents from followed accounts but the app won't push or amplify the content. This change is rolling out within the span of the coming weeks and be applied to public accounts.

A spokesperson explains the new route, stating “Our definition of political content is content likely to be about topics related to government or elections; for example, posts about laws, elections, or social topics. These global issues are complex and dynamic, which means this definition will evolve as we continue to engage with the people and communities who use our platforms and external experts to refine our approach.”
