Meta is Preparing to Roll out Labels Depicting Content Made with AI

Social media giant Meta announces that it will begin to roll out the Made with AI labeling system on its platforms to showcase content that has been either altered or entirely created with artificial intelligence. Meta is the hub for Facebook, Instagram, and Threads -- the labels will be starting officially in May 2024.

These badges will indicate the photos, videos, and even audio clips that have been made using AI. The purpose of this is to tackle the ongoing problems around the use of deepfakes. These labels follow the company's Oversight Board, which pressed that the processes needed to have more transparency and highlight the topic of manipulated media. The process now informs users so that they can make their own decisions.
