Recommedation Algorithm Resets

The Instagram Reset Feature Manually Refreshes Content Preferences

Social media algorithms are designed to analyze user behavior and preferences to serve more of the content they are likely to engage with, and there's a new Instagram reset feature allowing users to manually refresh their feed recommendations, and clear their activity history to start anew.

Announced by Instagram head Adam Mosseri, this feature in testing will give users the power to reset the recommendations they see across the Explore page, Reels and their home feed. With this change, users will benefit from a fresh selection of personalized content that may better reflect the accounts and content they'd like to interact with. Once reset, a user's Instagram algorithm will be informed of their preferences with their likes, follows and engagements.
