National Geographic Society Unveils the Museum of Exploration

The National Geographic Society has announced the upcoming launch of the National Geographic Museum of Exploration, scheduled to open in 2026 as part of its reimagined campus in Washington, D.C. This sustainably built public attraction aims to provide an immersive experience that highlights "National Geographic's legacy through curated exhibitions, interactive activities, a state-of-the-art theater, a restaurant, and a retail store."

Upon entering through "an 11-foot yellow border, visitors will explore various wonders of the world; key features include the Rolex Explorers Landing, showcasing historic expedition artifacts, and an Immersive Experience that allows guests to engage as explorers." Furthermore, a 400-seat theater will offer advanced audiovisual technology, while Washington, D.C.’s first outdoor 'Nighttime Courtyard Experience' will feature visuals through projection mapping.

Additionally, the museum emphasizes inclusivity and accessibility, providing Braille texts, American Sign Language (ASL) interpretations, tactile maps, and wellness rooms for various needs.
