With the inspiration to design a modern living lifestyle building that is both modern and traditional at the same time, Vienna-based architecture and design firm Mostlikely has created a lodge called The Barn, located in the city of Kitzbühel, Austria. The alpine lodge was inspired by surrounding mountain villages’ wooden agricultural barns.
The result is a structure that takes after the aesthetics of a wooden barn. The Barn is a three-storey building that has bare concrete as the base and a wooden section in the upper level fitted with a sloping roof. “This coherent architectural landscape allows for a romantic identity as well as regional authenticity and serves as the layer stone of the tourism industry in this area,” says the architects of the philosophy behind the house.
The living areas, which include the living room, the kitchen and the dining room of the house are on the second floor. The metal staircase leads down to three bedrooms found on the ground floor.
