Artist Sydney Sie used 3D printing, photographic retouching and visual effects in order to create this bright and colorful mixed-media artwork.
Sie's Materialize Project was in alliance with a 3D printing project entitled Atom and each of her three displays have different themes. One display, created with a variety of mediums, is music-themed with a small synthesizer, speakers, records and a mic. The second display is slightly more abstract but is meant to be galactic themed -- featuring 3D-printed swirls, astronauts and planets. The final and most visually appealing of the displays is the plant-themed one. Using the variety of techniques she employed in order to create this mixed-media artwork, the artist managed to create a small artistic garden.
The diversity and adaptability of 3D technology makes it so that it can be applied to a variety of fields and the Materialize project proves 3D printing technology's worth in art.
