The relationship between nature and building is one filled with controversy and construction – a juxtaposition that Florence artist Michele Durazzi set out to explore with his surreal cityscapes.
According to the artist, the series was conceived as "storytelling through architectural detail" and a "‘trip within surreal minimalism." Unorthodox at best, the futuristic work is thought-provoking for those who seek fantastical experiences in reality. Playing with scale and sizing, it is often only by contrast that a viewer can determine the true vastness of the subject.
Throughout his work, Durazzi also plays with textures and angles to move his audience through different dimensions, sending the message that things are not often as they seem and forcing viewers to evaluate their place in their surroundings. Photo Credits: designboom, d-arkroom
