Dramatic Oak Mews Homes

Bindloss Loss Designs a Full-Height Mews House in Chelsea, London

Architectural studio Bindloss Dawes works on a mews house located in Chelsea on the West side of London. The studio adds a new lightwell that measures full height with a dramatic staircase made from oak and steel materials for a theatric feel. The client originally tapped the studio to create a more spacious kitchen and living space on the ground floor to have a better connection the the garden.

Bindloss Dawes explains to Dezeen that the "Chelsea Mews House highlights that large spaces aren't always needed. It's about creating something pragmatic and beautiful that clients will treasure. This is a small terraced house, and we've elevated it by bringing in daylight and giving it a sense of volume and theatre."
