The McDonald's STRAW is an unlikely, specially engineered drinking straw that was made specifically to optimize the experience of drinking its multi-flavored Chocolate Shamrock Shake.
The issue with regular straws when drinking this shake is that in order for people to enjoy both flavors at the same time, they must either wait for the shake to melt and its flavors to mix together, or they must drink the mint and chocolate flavors separately. With the McDonald's STRAW (Suction Tube for Reverse Axial Withdrawal), this problem is alleviated. The specially engineered straw has three different holes -- two different sized ones on one side of the straw, and one at the bottom of its curved shape.
Unlike traditional straws, the curved shape is designed to fit into the Shamrock Shake, rather than at the area where the beverage is consumed from.
