The Marbella Chair is an ultra-modern seating solution designed by Ortal Sachs to create the aesthetic of a rigid block of concrete but with the soft, undulating feel of rubber upon sitting.
The chair was designed by Ortal as part of her final project in industrial design studies at the Ariel University and is achieved using a silicone-based material. This enables the seat to look like a chunk of concrete or marble yet allows it to maintain the comfort of rubber to make it suitable for long-term sitting in a home or office.
The Marbella Chair strikes a necessary balance between the desire for ultra-modern furniture and comfort to identify what can be done to keep designs interesting without being too cold.
