The conceptual 'Macchina Volantis' is an electric vertical take-off and landing (eVOTL) vehicle that identifies the potential future of transportation by offering a hybrid solution that is ready for roadways and the skies.
Created by Stephen Fries, the vehicle has a three-wheeled design that offers a maximum ground speed of 60mph, but is capable of reaching 150 knots (173mph) when airborne. This allows drivers to use the vehicle for short trips, longer ones and commuting to completely escape traffic jams by taking to the skies where little to no congestion is observed.
The conceptual 'Macchina Volantis' vehicle offers seating for up to five passengers and, while primarily electric, is integrated with a diesel range extender for easily handling longer journeys.
