Loft 5.04, an apartment in Prague, features a layout that's highly unusual when compared to the average apartment unit. Rather than being organized in a simple rectangle or even in an ell, the Eastern European loft hooks sharply, with the apartment's rooms sprawling back and around the corner from the kitchen and living area.
Though the dogleg layout is certainly uncommon, 'smlxl', the architecture and design studio behind the project, did a good job of making the most of it. Rather than shying away from the oddness of the shape, the studio highlighted the angles through the use of dramatic struts across the ceiling of the kitchen.
Loft 5.04 has other playful design features as well, like two swings hanging from the ceiling that serve as permanent stools for the kitchen island.
