The Leaf House Interprets Organic Form Within a Rural Landscape

— December 7, 2025 — Art & Design
The Leaf House is a private residence in the Cotswolds designed by Michaelis Boyd that takes its form from two overlapping leaf-shaped volumes set into a sloping countryside site. The structure is clad in locally sourced limestone that was quarried on site and shaped to follow the building’s continuous curved exterior. Large areas of glazing are positioned to frame views across open fields while maintaining a strong connection between interior spaces and the surrounding landscape. A planted roof further integrates the structure into its rural setting and supports environmental performance.

The layout separates the home into a primary living structure and a secondary barn-like volume connected by circulation space. Interior materials include oak flooring, clay plaster walls, and sustainably sourced timber joinery. Environmental systems include borehole water extraction and solar-powered energy generation to reduce reliance on external utilities and support long-term off-grid function.
