Algorithmic Ceramic Cups

Texture Ware by Bkid Uses Generative Software to Create 3d-Made Drinkware

Texture Ware is a series of ceramic cups by BKID designed and manufactured entirely by algorithmic tools. The process begins with a text prompt specifying the desired texture. The software then generates a 2D texture, renders a 3D model from that texture, and converts it into a 3D printable form. The final objects are printed in ceramic-ready material and fired, producing cups that feature surfaces and forms unlike traditional ceramics.

Each cup displays unique surface qualities inspired by brutalist concrete, moss, wood bark, basalt rock, coral, and abstract organic textures. Despite their unusual appearance, the pieces retain full functionality, and the geometry ensures volume for liquids and a stable form suitable for use with espresso, tea, or sake. Texture Ware challenges conventional craft by demonstrating how generative design can produce functional vessels outside traditional human-driven aesthetics.
