The Kurono Tokyo Vermilion Chronograph “SHU:朱” is a new limited-edition release by Hajime Asaoka’s brand, launching exclusively at Kurono salons starting August 22, 2025. The watch features a radiant orange-red dial named “shu,” a color steeped in cultural significance, long used in torii gates, samurai armor, and lacquerware to symbolize nobility, purification, and protection. The shade was selected after rigorous UV exposure testing to ensure fade resistance, guaranteeing long-term vibrancy and enduring presence.

The 38 mm timepiece uses Kurono’s classic Mk.2 chronograph case, crafted in polished stainless steel with a double-domed sapphire crystal and 3 ATM water resistance. Inside, the automatic chronograph movement provides 45 hours of power reserve. Produced in highly limited numbers and available only in person, the “SHU:朱” chronograph unites traditional watchmaking with cultural storytelling, resulting in a piece that balances performance, symbolism, and collectible appeal.
