The Jizo Statues of Chausudake Volcano are little statues that are placed near the volcano in Japan.
In Japan, 'Jizo' is someone who takes away suffering from those who are in hell. He is friends with everyone, answers to the prayers of others and makes for a great children's toy.
Often this little fella is found near intersections, supposedly helping people find their way. At first, I thought these little Jizos were scary but once I got a closer look at their faces, they didn't seem so bad. The faces of the Jizo Statues of Chausudake Volcano look friendly and kind.
Imagine having hundreds of these statue on your front lawn!
