Intercontinental WiFi Perks

KLM Has Extended Its Starlink Internet Agreement to Long-Haul Flights

KLM will expand onboard Internet to its long-haul network, adding no-charge Starlink access on intercontinental flights starting in mid-2027. On equipped aircraft, Flying Blue members can stay online across ocean routes for streaming or email, bringing the same free connectivity KLM already offers on much of its European fleet.

Starlink's low-Earth-orbit satellites matter here because they maintain coverage over oceans and remote routes, not just land. Passengers who are not yet in Flying Blue can enroll before departure or through the onboard portal, then use the service on equipped planes.

Free long-haul Internet tied to 'Flying Blue' turns connectivity into both a loyalty lever and an onboard amenity. Extending the same no-cost access from European routes to intercontinental ones moves WiFi from an upsell toward a baseline cabin expectation.
