When activated, the Volvo 'Pilot Assist II' will add steering assistance as well as acceleration and braking assistance. Added safety features enable the Volvo 'Pilot Assist II' to deactivate if drivers remove their hands from the wheel.
The race towards providing a fully autonomous vehicle is becoming more intense by a number of leading vehicle manufacturers. However, the experience for consumers needs to be more gradual, which the Volvo 'Pilot Assist II' helps enable by enhancing highway driving for a start.
The Volvo 'Pilot Assist II' system will come as standard on the 2017 XC90 SUV.
