Construction of The Heydar Aliyev Centre by Zaha Hadid Architects has nearly been complete in Azerbaijan and its design is just as beautiful and sculptural as its initial renderings. The exterior of the building seems to be a uniform piece of material that has been gracefully folded over the landscape. The undersides of the folds are held up by glass walls that let an abundance of natural light flow into the building.
The new cultural center is set to open this September, host to a library, museum and conference center. The incredible design has already been nominated for awards at the World Architectural Festival and the Inside Festival. Alike water, the fluidity of The Heydar Aliyev Centre's structure will bring a rush of new life to reinvigorate the city of Baku.
