After introducing a Cauliflower Pizza Crust that was extremely well-received by customers, Trader Joe's is now launching a ready-to-bake Gluten Free Cheese Pizza with a Cauliflower Crust.
The crust itself is made from a blend of the cruciferous vegetable, mozzarella cheese, plus potato, brown rice and chickpea flour as replacements for ordinary wheat flour. As Trader Joe's describes: "It cooks just as a good pizza should, with a soft bite in the center, and just-the-right-crisp around the edges." On top of the crust, the frozen pizza product is layered with a tomato sauce and more cheese, which can be warmed in a matter of minutes in the oven.
As a gluten-free and plant-based alternative, cauliflower is becoming a popular substitute for everything from bread and rice to pizza crusts.
