5G Network Trials

Vodafone Will Be Launching a 5G Trial as Part of Its Gigabit UK Plan

5G networks may still be a few years away from being fully implemented but Vodafone is set to begin a comprehensive 5G trial as part of its ambitious Gigabit UK plan. The trial will be used to test a variety of new 5G applications, including augmented and virtual reality factories, offices and hospitals, all utilizing 5G technology. The hope is that this trial will lead to the finalization of Gigabit UK and Vodafone intends for the 5G driven project to be ready for a full commercial launch in early 2020.

The cities included in the 5G trial will be Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool, London and Manchester and will run from August 2018 until December of the same year. This trial ties into the Gigabit UK plan, which aims to provide everyone in the UK with one-gigabit-per-second speeds.
