Created as a way to fold paper into pristine paper airplanes, this machine is crafted entirely from LEGO building block components to create the aviary paper toys.
Designed by Arthur Sacek, the paper airplane machine was created for use in a Super Bowl commercial to promote aerospace and defense brand Arrow Electronics. The machine starts almost like a printer or scanner by sliding in a piece of paper that is then fed along the system and folded along the way. The folds become more complex until the final product -- a perfect paper airplane -- is produced.
Explaining the reasoning behind the machine, Sacek details that, "I love the challenge. Because when you have this kind of feeling, you can think how to change other kinds of things. Because we need to solve problems, we have a lot of problems everywhere.
