The vast majority of restaurants, especially those in dense urban areas, don't have the space necessary for a full-service drive-thru system, but the FlyBuy app gives any restaurant the ability to simulate drive-thru convenience. Consumers place orders at local restaurants through the app, and when they make it to the restaurant, a staff will be waiting with their food, so consumers need not even exit their vehicle to take away a meal.
The key to FlyBuy's success is in the timing of the handoff. Not only will consumers get precise timing — cross-referenced with traffic data — informing them about when to pick up their food, but the restaurant staff can also see how close the consumers' vehicle is in real time. Staff can thus come out to the curb precisely when a consumer's vehicle arrives, wasting no time waiting on the sidewalk.
The FlyBuy app is based out of Seattle, where it is currently operating in 45 restaurants. It's also expanded to Portland, St. Louis, and Minneapolis.
