Bernard Tschumi Architects' Exploratorium Museum Has a Curious Shape
Kalina Ned — January 25, 2019 — Art & Design
The Exploratorium Museum is a recently completed cultural destination in Tianjin, China. Designed by Bernard Tschumi Architects in collaboration with the Tianjin Urban Planning and Design Institute, the structure spans across 33,000 square meters and its galleries are contained in differently sized chimney-like spaces. In addition to the exhibiting opportunities, the institution will also include office spaces, restaurants, shops, and event spaces.
The Exploratorium Museum has an interesting exterior that evokes an industrial vibe through a contemporary lens. The coppered-colored facade is definitely a point of interest when surveying the aesthetic of the space. The interior of the cultural facility is positioned in a spiraling manner that goes "in and around the giant cone structures."
