Architecture firm Kengo Kuma & Associates has created the CMP Inspiration Museum in Taichung, Taiwan. It is defined by its twisted wooden-ramed roof which also functions as a garden. Underneath, there are two floors of museum space that breach into the subterranean level. The green roof on top swoops to the ground level closer to the front of the building.
The studio spoke about the space, noting "Most of the museum was buried underground to keep the eaves low and reduce the oppressive feeling of the building. Furthermore, by integrating the roof with the ground, the roof space was opened to the city as a public space for various events and concerts. By creating a green museum on a site facing Calligraphy Greenway, the center of Taichung City's green network, the public green network and private development are seamlessly connected through greenery."
