The 'IAmAliveVIP' emergency notification app for Android devices is one that makes quite a political statement about the frequency of bombings in Lebanon.
The app by Sandra Hassan enables users to send out fast auto-tweets in the case of emergency, such as messages like "I am still alive! #Lebanon #Latestbombing." Over 4,000 users have reportedly downloaded the app since it was made available on January 21st and it's a lot of action during two bombings since then. While the app is useful, its political message is also quite apparent. The app snidely describes that: "every time there is an explosion, we have to spend a lot of time contacting our loved ones…Not anymore!"
The app has got people in other regions affected by bombings asking Hassan to create versions for their local areas as well.
