Android Emergency Live Video has been announced by Google as a new feature that will enable users to potentially get help even faster by sharing information about their surroundings with emergency services.
The feature will enable first responders to request a live video feed from the person, which will activate the camera to let users share a snapshot of what's happening. This could help citizens to communicate more clearly with first responders in emergency scenarios that might be hard to describe or to potentially expedite services in the event that things are worse than they sound.
Android Emergency Live Video is rolling out now in the US, but requires devices to be running Android 8 or newer with Google Play services installed.
