Android Call Reason Lets Callers Flag Their Call

Android Call Reason is an upcoming feature for users of the mobile OS to utilize before placing a call to encourage the receiver to pick up. The feature is being beta tested in the Phone by Google app and works by having users place a call to someone in their contacts list and indicate that the call is urgent. This will be relayed to the call receiver when their phone rings to let them it's important that they pick up.

Android Call Reason could help to eliminate the need to send a follow-up text message in the event that a call is an emergency for greater efficacy. The new calling feature could have additional call tags in future updates to let users indicate their intentions in a simple, straightforward way.
