Dogfish Head brewery is no stranger to creative flavors and its SeaQuench Ale explores a variety of tastes to celebrate its own seafood restaurant. Described by the company as a "session sour mash-up of a crisp Kolsch, a salty Gose, and a tart Berliner Weiss," the beer was brewed with black limes, sour lime juice and sea salt.
The nose offers pleasant sweetness from the lime, which is undercut with the barley used in the brewing process. Lime and salt are the first flavors on the palette but hints of coconut emerge as the lime dies down. The entire experience is not overly acidic but the fermentation process brings forward a tart sense of flavor.
