Dallara is a legendary brand in the auto industry — even though it's far from a household name for the average consumer — but with the Dallara Stradale, the Italian automaker is hoping to get in front of at least a few more consumers. The sports car is the first consumer vehicle that the company has ever released, and it reflects the company's history as a race car manufacturer.
Dallara was founded in 1972 by Giampaolo Dallara, a designer and engineer who had worked with Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Maserati. The brand became successful on the racing circuit, with its design serving as the current standard for IndyCar racing. Though the Dallara Stradale, which is Italian for "road", is the first consumer vehicle released by the company, it follows in the footsteps of its racing cousins with a super-light chassis and a powerful, 400-horsepower engine.
