Cubicco Created This Resilient Dwellings Designed for Well-Being
Rebecca Byers — February 10, 2015 — Art & Design
Cubicco has created a low-impact prefab home design that can withstand Category 5 storms, but the modular housing design also takes into consideration sleek modern design, changing populations and the strain on natural resources normally used in the production of homes.
For example, the laminated veneer lumber used by Cubicco in this latest model is engineered to use up to 90% of a tree, and the homes are optimized for pedestrian oriented urban communities.
While the design for the dwellings came to be courtesy of the Netherlands via Cubicco International as a means to combat Scandinavian winters, the design sees appeal stateside, namely Miami, where Cubicco opened an office and manufacturing plant in 2013, in the context of coastal America facing with ever intensifying hurricane seasons.
