Grecian Hilltop Villas

This Contemporary Townhouse Offers Panoramic Views of the Athens Basin

ISV Architects designed a contemporary townhouse located in an urban area of Athens, Greece.

The unique site, located by the Philopappos Hill, offers the best of the Greek capital's historical ruins, peaceful parks and urban destinations (such as the nearby City Center). The design brief called for a flexible layout that would respond well to potential change. The accompanying design was to be understated, informal and comfortable.

The architects used the home's surrounding panorama as a starting point, wanting to emphasize it as much as possible through an "upside-down internal arrangement." The social spaces, such as the living, dining and kitchen areas, are placed at the top of the home, allowing for spectacular views, which are further opened up by an amazing pool deck and terrace. The private spaces, such as the bedrooms, are found two levels below. They, too, have access to the views, via a Japanese-inspired garden.
