These striking molded concrete seats were shown at the Stockholm Furniture Fair 2009 and are Danish design company Komplot’s answer to urban seating calls. I like the thought of placing comfy-looking sofa seats in the city center. It gives homeless people a homely place to hang in as well.
These 'Concrete Things' chairs may appear massive, but their sculptural form was actually inspired by their weightless steel grid chair, which I have featured previously. The concrete seating is designed to fit into city squares, malls, museums, parks, and streets. On a hot summer day I could just lean back and quite happily watch the world go by in one of these.
