Community Water Solutions is a Boston-based nonprofit social enterprise that enables access to clean drinking water for rural villages in West Africa. Community Water Solutions establishes sustainable water treatment businesses and empowers local women to run them.
In order to set up the businesses, Community Water Solutions brings students and young professionals from around the world. CWS uses simple, affordable technologies that cover treatment, distribution and storage of clean, safe drinking water. The sale of the drinking water covers the operation and maintenance costs, and CWS currently has projects in 38 communities in the Northern Region of Ghana.
