Puerto Rican Sneaker NFTs

Bobbito Garcia and Oscar Acosta Launch Their First Digital Sneaker

World-famous DJ and self-proclaimed sneakerhead Bobbito Garcia has partnered with designer Omar Acosta to release a joint NFT sneaker series. The new NFTs were created to celebrate the 126th anniversary of the Puerto Rican flag, debuted on December 22, 1895.

The one-of-a-kind series consists of four 3D sneakers designs, in addition to a fifth edition artwork from the La Borinqueña comic book series. The sneakers utilize the same base model, the AR01, but come dressed in different color schemes and stylings. According to the company, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the La Borinqueña grants program, which will benefit a range of Afro-Boricua grassroots initiatives in Puerto Rico.

“We’re both Puerto Rican, so naturally we wanted to pay homage to our flag’s anniversary this month with our debut creation,” said Garcia in a press release. “The ARO1 model is where sneakers, art, design, technology, cultural pride and independent ownership plus distribution all collide.”
