The Blue Bottle Coffee Tokyo Shops are the First Outside of the US

A newly opened pair of Blue Bottle Coffee Tokyo locations marks the first expansion of the American coffee brand outside of the US.

Designed by Schemata Architects, the first location sits within an old storage building in the Kiyosumi-Shirakawa area and hosts the administrative elements of the brand's Japan expansion, with offices, a roastery and training area included. The bright spaces serve as a sprawling, relaxed environment and is characterized by its natural light sources and accents of greenery.

Both Blue Bottle Coffee Tokyo locations share a minimalist, industrial aesthetic that is also reflected in the brand's simplistic logo. Given that Blue Bottle Coffee still only has locations in the Bay Area, Los Angeles and New York City, it will be interesting to see where the company expands to next.
