Wooden Pillar Japanese Cafes

Schemata Architects Completes the Blue Bottle Coffee Cafe Design

Architecture firm Schemata Architects has completed the Blue Bottle Coffee Cafe in Toyosu Park. It is defined as a wooden space nestled in Japan with an open structure to allow visitors to have a beautiful and unobstructed view of the sea. The building is made up of three volumes that have sloped roofs of various heights which are designed to blend in with the trees in the park, nestled right by Tokyo Bay.

The founder of the studio, Jo Nagasaka speaks to Dezeen about the project, noting "Because of the park's good location, the aim was to create a relationship in which the entire park would feel like a seating area from the point of view of the cafe side, and the cafe is one of the diverse places to be from the point of view of the park side. Not to diminish the good qualities of the park by the construction of the building, the entire building was created as a cluster of human-scale volumes."
