Modernized Masterpiece Sculptures

Barry X Ball Remixes the Works of Art Icons from Centuries Ago

These Barry X Ball sculptures should look familiar to viewers; after all, they’re actually recreations of old masterpieces crafted from modern textiles. The works of Antonio Corradini, Josse de Corte and others have been given a contemporary twist thanks to Ball’s use of colored marble and steel. The results are much sleeker than their source material, but both the originals and replicates are devastatingly beautiful in their own right.

Barry X Ball resides in New York, where his work is regularly exhibited. His magnificent sculptures are also displayed in various galleries across Europe and North America, but that should come as no surprise since Ball is one of the few modern artists as gifted at sculpting as the Grand Masters. Centuries from now, artists may be remaking some of Ball’s works.
