An Amazon Lord of the Rings Game is currently in the works at the Amazon Game Studios. The game is set to be a massive multiplayer online game, inspired by the fantasy series. The game will be set at a time that predates the Lord of the Rings series. This may have been done in an effort to separate this game form other games inspired by the series.
In order to develop the game, the company has partnered with Leyou, a company that specializes in PC gaming. Amazon also had to enter a partnership with Middle-earth Enterprises to gain rights to develop a game. It was noted the game will be free to users on PC as well as consoles, however, no information about a release date has been shared as of yet.
