From Heat-Sensitive to Glow-in-the-Dark Decor

 - Nov 15, 2008
Wallpaper has come a long way from the dated island vistas and city skylines that were once ubiquitous. The modern wall coverings in this cluster range from elegant to unique, eye-catching and downright distracting.

There are sets of biology-inspired wallpaper, like Shannon Wright’s urinary tract wallpaper and Nina Levett’s sperm wallpaper. There are also sheets of wallpaper that you color on your own, like the designs of Jon Burgerman and Jenny Wilkinson.

My favorite, however, are the tech-friendly wall coverings of the future. We have a bevy of glow-in-the-dark, fiber optic, OLED, and natural light wallpapers that emit light for a truly impressive piece of home decor.

For traditionalists, however, there are more standard wallpaper options--but with a Trend Hunter twist. Nama Rococo wallpaper, for example, is an authentic piece of couture art, as every sheet is made by hand and no two designs are exactly the same. And The Fruit Cocktail Collection features scratch-and-sniff rows of fruit.
