From Upset Baby Boys to Vintage Black & White Photos

Child photography can often just melt your heart. The innocence and curiosity of children shines through their eyes when the camera captures them and the result is refreshingly genuine expressions. Most children don’t know anything about posing or faking an expression, which makes it more revealing when their pictures are taken. This kind of openness and spontaneity contrasts the hyper-conscious prepared faces on adult models.
The Alexandra Klever ‘Mixed Emotions’ Series is a great example of this. In the photo series, the child goes through a range of mostly upset expressions. While it’s not cool to purposely make the child subject upset for the purpose of a photo shoot, the honest distress on his face here makes the pictures powerful.
