Studio MM Designs the Tranquil Abiding Private Home

Architecture firm Studio MM is the creative force behind the Tranquil Abiding private residence. The home is nestled in the forest of the Hudson Valley with a sunlit clearing. The home is made up of four sculpted pavilions made from stone and wood, coming together in a loose composition.

Each section is joined by corridors lined by glass to welcome in natural lighting where it can. The clients wanted a home that would be both a physical and emotional extension of the nearby Buddhist temple. This way, it can support spiritual practices through the composed proportion and nature connection of the forest around the home. The layout of the windows were also carefully applied in consideration.
