Zenhouse by Studio Nirvana is a Residential Sanctuary in Palakkad, India

— January 19, 2026 — Art & Design
Zenhouse is a two-storey house designed by Studio Nirvana as a residential retreat on the outskirts of Palakkad in Kerala, India. The home covers approximately 1,393 square metres and is conceived as a tranquil sanctuary influenced by Zen philosophy, with an open plan that emphasises simplicity, harmony, and connection to nature. The layout includes living spaces, bedrooms, a dining area, an indoor pool, and a meditation room organised to allow natural light and ventilation to permeate deep into the interior. The plan was arranged around existing mature mango and jackfruit trees on the site, preserving the landscape and letting tree canopies filter sunlight into the spaces.

Materials and finishes in Zenhouse include warm timber, polished concrete, and restrained surface treatments intended to support visual calm and a sense of spaciousness. Many areas of the house are deliberately kept minimal with few defined functions to encourage mental clarity and ease of movement. Interiors and circulation routes flow without rigid partitions, allowing light, shadow, and greenery to become part of the living experience within the home
