House by the Grove is a Home Designed to Sit Within Its Natural Site

— December 26, 2025 — Art & Design
House by the Grove is a private residence in Karnataka, India, designed by Taliesyn to integrate closely with an existing landscape of mature trees and exposed rock formations. The 5,400-square-foot home sits on a two-acre site and is organized in an L-shaped plan that frames outdoor courtyards and shaded verandas. A central double-height living space connects the kitchen, dining, and lounge areas, with large sliding glass panels allowing these interiors to open directly to the surrounding landscape. The layout prioritizes visual continuity between indoor and outdoor zones.

Bedrooms are positioned along the ground floor, each opening onto private patios or garden areas, while an upper level reached via an external stair contains additional rooms and a library overlooking the main living space. Material choices include hand-finished cement walls, steel structural elements, stone flooring, and traditional Mangalore tile roofing. Deep overhangs and cross-ventilation support passive cooling throughout the house.
